From Ubuntu to XP. An amusing account including this quote which made me laugh:
Worse, the Windows partitioner hoses your MBR
No shit ! Really ? Linux would never do that eh ?

I'd tell you but I don't trust you.

No software is perfect. As I said in a previous comment, all operating systems suck. They suck in different ways. Sometimes they each do things for which the other(s) are derided.
The combination of sucky software plus wildly unreliable hardware makes for some interesting results.
It should not automatically hose the MBR, is what I think the guy says. You know you cannot install linux then windows because windows kills the mbr and then you have to reinstall grub? That’s the problem. Linux (in my experence) does not do that 🙂
It’s from slashdot! Come on, I mean there could be 2billion articles saying “Linux raped my desktop and shot my dog” and Slashdot would be going *whistle* “Hmmm? Oh look over there! A three headed monkey!”
Slashdot has, in the last year or two, managed to completely invalidate itself as a useful source of information for me. Too many morons, and they are are nowhere near as fast on the uptake as they used to be.
But it was funny 🙂
