After expeditions into things involving fdisk and mbr tools, xp is now installed again.
“Look ! A working computer!! WOW!”
First stage of removing several hundred meg of junk has finished, second stage of connecting to the net and updating is next, then grabbing all the programs I use and then finishing it off. Will takes ages because it’s a nice day, I have Jeremy Clarkson’s book, a garden to go lie in and I’m fed up with keyboards 🙂

You mention removing junk, read about this this morning…

Hmmmmm….. unless that guy posts under a different name somewhere else, he’s ripped every letter of that from somewhere else.
Is it a straight copy, or an edited job from different sites?
I got it from a newsletter I get twice-weekly, normally is a worthwhile read.
Fear not, Mark. Apple is going to move to Intel chips, so we can get a real OS with OSX and leave Windows behind without having to resort to making our lives miserable with *nix OSes.
Well Apples OS is based on Linux anyway. This could be a big breakthrough and the beginning of the end for Sir Bill.
But have you seen the latest benchmark tests??? Pile of shite.
Anyway, the real reason I came to comment was to say to Mark that see, gardens *can* be a good thing. 🙂
Claire – it runs just how I need and that’s quick here 🙂
And the only bench I’m interested in these days is the benchpress. must.press.more.
I skipped on the garden too – too greeeeeeeeeen 🙂
Root,
I see Apple merging (buying out) Microsoft to be competitive with Google. 🙂
Then Sony buy them and make all their files incompatible with the new Google search …. it’ll be the Betamax saga all over 🙂
