The layout has been static now for ages, and seeing as I have my regular backups, I’m going to play – breakage may result.
So far, header graphic altered, image replacement for titles being used, custom comment code implemented.
Oh yes, and from looking at my error logs, I’ve figured why the spammers aren’t coming in here – and it’s not a .htaccess issue 🙂
I’ve always had a soft spot for old ‘typewriter’ fonts.
Looks good so far Mark! 😎
Thanks 🙂
More tweaking yet to come …
I like the new title font/images as well. Looks excellent. Are you planning to share with any of us why you’re not getting spammed to kindom come?
It’s my directory name.
One of many hundreds of entries from today’s error log:
[Mon Nov 15 06:42:38 2004] [error] [client 165.138.213.230]
File does not exist: /home/–path–/www/html/t2
referer: http://www.t e x a s – h o l d e m – s c r i p t s -game.info/
That directory does indeed not exist, but one called T2 does.
So, I figure that if you had a directory that used a capital letter, you too would be safe ? (Until everyone does it of course!)
(Spammers address munged so it gets through the filters)
So it’s the capital letter messing them up? That’s pretty funny.
I’ve just set up 2 testblogs (default code)
One is 1.2.1, the other cvs as of tonight.
One is located here at /testblog, the other at /TestBlog2
I’ll post to each just the same, and see what happens.
Should be interesting, I think you are on the right track. If I want to manually pull your site up in a browser I’ve been caught out a few times by the capital ‘T’. I’m just about to set-up WP on another site where it will be in a subdirectory so I think I’ll try the little capitalization trick…
Just think if the subdirectory was /wordpress/ and I set it up as /wOrdPRess/ and it ends up causing a mammoth problem for spammers, I think the only way they can bypass it is to manually check what it is for each site – mammoth effort for them which brings a smile to my face 🙂
Start naming directories in l33T haXor style then? 😀
