McLaren are stripped of their points because they made a car with cheated knowledge
Yet the drivers of the cars are allowed to keep the points.
Now how the fuck does THAT work then?

If 3 weeks ago I’d seen that Sky had the rights to F1 for next season I’d have got Sky.
I’ve missed few races.
I’ve posted and discussed in forums.
I’ve spent money on tickets and merchandise.
No different to tens of thousands of other people but this judgement is stupid. They want a black driver and they’ll do everything they possibly can to get that black driver.

Jean Todt admits that the Stepneygate scandal is sullying the good name of F1, but is adamant that the truth must come out. (and whose truth is that?)

When asked whether he felt that McLaren deserved to be excluded from the Championship, Todt explained that the Italian marque had no particular outcome in mind. (Really?)

Referring to the first hearing in July Todt said: “The decision [not to punish McLaren] was not appropriate. (But he had no outcome in mind…)

The CEO of Scuderia warned that legal action would continue even if the hearing exonerated McLaren.
“No, I mean really, for us it is something which is too important and we will move forward in Italy … and move on with the civil case in the UK as well.” (In other words he won’t accept anything BUT what he calls victory) (and that means he DOES have an outcome in mind)

“It’s a taint on the sport. (says the squat one despite the fact that Ferrari and Schumacher cheated more and gave team orders when they were banned.)

From Jackie Stewart: “There are more Ferrari representatives on the World Council than anybody else, and it seems that some of the most powerful people in this sport are more aligned to Ferrari than anybody else.”

The head of Williams: “Sir Frank Williams believes the FIA have embarked on their quest in this saga with “enormous tenacity”.

Luca di Montezemolo claims that Ferrari would be deserving Champions should McLaren be excluded from the title race.

What the other teams should do is what they did in Indianapolis – just let the red cars go.

Dear Apple,
Please can you stop making shiny toys for your adoring zealots and instead find 5 minutes to write decent mouse drivers. In this arena Microsoft comprehensively thrashes you. As Pirelli once said “Power is nothing without control” and Apple mouse control sucks donkey sized ones.

Sata drives
It wants the drivers off a floppy
I have no floppy
The only machine that can write floppies is this one
So it doesn’t see the drives. At all.
So right now I haven’t a clue what to do.

It’s stupid that Windows cannot deal, and it’s stupid I can’t just yank something from the motherboard.

Mac keys do not work.

Cmd+v will not work.
Cmd+any other key is fine

Shift+r will not work

v+Cmd will work but – obviously – throws a v at the start and it’s not meant to work like that anyway.
r+ShiftShiftShiftShift might work.

Mac forums are without a clue
restarting – a daily event here now with the ‘oh so stable’ mac does not work
running onyx does not work

It’s an apple keyboard
I dismantled the (stupidly assembled) thing and cleaned it fully a couple of weeks ago. It is NOT the reason.

So, why has the wondrous OS X decided to start crumbling even further? Any ideas?

Can Ubuntu be installed on a mac mini? If it can, I may well. (Yes it can. Dual boot? No. I have no loyalty to OS X. It’ll be the whole HD).

Update: What appears to happen – because I had this happen before – is that OS X forgets just what language settings are in use. So curing it involved choosing another language in the International prefs, then choosing the proper one again. When it happened before I posted to the apple forums I followed up within the hour to say it was working again. No-one replied that it was a known issue. Which means it isn’t, it doesn’t happen and I have a lemon?
Apart from Parallels, ubuntu is looking good……

The Facebook default for an image is just so appropriate.

(and do I care that I’m using a blanket term? No. Why? Well if they won’t put their own house in order they can all live in it together. Do I care if no-one else joins? No – it’s still somewhere for me to vent. And do I care if they hold it against me? I didn’t get to this point of view without reason did I?)

A Social Worker question.

Is there a point to social workers? Do they ever do anything when they aren’t off the sick? Do they actually agree to take tasks instead of directing them to others? Do they possess spines? Do they ever agree to get anything done by any time? Are we better off without them? Has one ever done anything good? If so did the others ostracise them because a precedent could be set? Why don’t people slap into reality those that want to train to “help people” and choose the most slovenly career? Is managing social workers akin to managing sleeping people? How do they justify whatever they are paid because whatever it is it will be too much.

Social workers are a complete waste of time, energy and oxygen.

A reason to buy/use a PC

I want to play music and I don’t want to use iTunes.

Windows:
Right-click folder, open in music player. It doesn’t give a damn what’s in it, it doesn’t care if it’s never seen it before, it doesn’t want to tag / sort / organise / move or otherwise screw with it. It just plays.

Mac.
……….

So that’s that then.
Time to move things around.

Update:
The PC is now back where it was. I have the PC for music, for video, for games. The Mac can’t cut it there at all. It needs some sorting out as any ‘family’ machine would, and it needs 3 USB sockets replacing (no need to send it anywhere for that unlike anything Apple make).

Maybe I should have fired up Parallels and Ubuntu …

Another mac irritation

The top taskbar (or whatever it’s called) on the right. I have Quicksilver, menumeters info, Bluetooth, Airport, Sound, Battery, Clock, Quicksilver. Put the cursor over anything except Airport, tap the pad and the appropriate information appears instantly. But not Airport. It takes a leisurely 2 or 3 seconds to display it’s menu and list of networks. It’s as slow on the other mac. Why? Windows does it faster. I know it’s a tiny detail but sitting here hopping networks that delay is driving me nuts. Is it really stressing the mac to have it scan and update any list faster?
