One day my neighbour might ask for a favour or for me to do anything. I will remember this week and particularly today. The 4th day of constant hammering and the drilling that started before 8:30am. I will remember going round and when he opened his door I said I thought drilling on a shared wall before 8:30am was a little early. “Ya think?” was his ever-so-fucking-cheery-smug-bastard-grinning response. The drilling restarted minutes later.

Moved from Broadband with BE to Infinity with BT yesterday. Keep running Speedtest to grin at the 6X increase I’m getting on this machine. The laptop gets 34mb – the homeplug will be dropping mine. But what I really like is that ping. It used to be 38-43ms but 22 is just excellent. And as I mentioned at work yesterday – irc is just blistering :)

My eldest daughter is a few weeks into her Nursing degree and they have started various placements. Today she worked with a midwife and she was there by chance to see and help with a birth. Got to hold the newborn too as the mother was tended to. She came back with the biggest smile. An amazing experience for her that she will never forget.

Here is the new addition (second post as I lost the first migrating hosts)

He is currently behaving just as a puppy should – peeing in the wrong places, yapping, getting under feet. For some reason this irritates J and D. I keep telling them that it’s Storm’s job as a puppy but they aren’t impressed. And I’m sure Winston already knows who Storm is but Storm is still clueless – again that will be part of his career at this point.

Get a small box the size of a pack of biscuits. Put a jumbone (which Winston loves) inside it. Pack with paper. Put that box inside a larger box the side of a couple of shoeboxes. Pack that with paper. Put that box inside a much larger box and pack that with paper too. Close it. Place the box in the middle of the lounge and tell Winston it’s his. And then watch as he has a great time ripping everything to shreds. Winston really likes it when I get boxed deliveries from Amazon.

When the girls were small we bought a video camera. Recently found several tapes so they went off for transfer to DVD. Got them back this morning.
First is 1995 and in the back garden of the house so the girls are a really cute 5 and 2. The rest of the 5 dvd’s cover only a few years including a christmas play at playschool, a christmas play at primary school, on holiday in Tenerife (the holiday where I saved youngest from drowning), a trip to Disneyland Paris, a school sports day, walking around Twycross Zoo and a birthday party held at a family pub. All really boring if you aren’t one of us (or a future boyfriend who will probably find them hilarious.). But it’s the cameras. There are cameras held by everyone, video cameras at the plays and on holiday. For the plays people are almost jostling for position to get the best shot of their kid. So I’m lucky I have this video and other pics of the girls. There must be so many parents who can’t do that today and so many kids who will grow up with no informal evidence they were ever an angel in a school play and similar. Shame.

Wasn’t sure where to frame given the expanse of darkness either side. It’s also level too – the light is the cause of the imbalance. Far from perfect – too small for a start – but I like it.
