These are taken using the Sport mode and the remote control. This is why they are slightly wonky, out of focus and the foxes don’t look relaxed (relatively speaking). A robin swooped in for one – pity it didn’t focus better.

These were all taken with the Canon 50/1.8 and have not been altered apart from resizing/cropping.

Last year I managed to get a few decent photos of one of the foxes that visit us daily. They’ve been coming for a few years, get fed every night and at least once a week we give them chicken wings/drumsticks. In the winter we would first hang a lamp from the birdtable then throw the chicken. No lamp, no chicken, just regular food. When they saw the lamp they would sit and wait – can’t run off and leave the good stuff for the others. Now if I go straight to the grass they hang well back before zooming in as I leave. But I stand on the patio they know chicken is coming.
I bought a remote control for the camera so I could condition them slowly to it being in the garden first, then making noises. Today was the first day – I happened to be downstairs when the little orange guy below came into the garden and stretched out in the sun waiting for the grub. While it was light the camera spooked him a little too much, he wouldn’t come close.

Eventually he did and I managed to get a few.
The original images are black – all you could see are the white bits of sky through the bushes at the top hence the weird image quality.

This is the same as the one above but lightened some more.

Give it a couple of weeks and I’m sure I’ll be able to get much better.

Far from perfect but that’s my fault. And it means I don’t have to write off as many images – which is nice to know.
