Double Fine not so good

I was one of the (tens of thousands) backers for the new Double Fine game they punted on kickstarter. I got this email and I could not be more annoyed that I’d given them money. If I could I’d take it right back. The last 3 words are incredibly offensive and I say that as someone who you have to work hard hard to really offend me.

Be nice. Double Fine is a nice company. We only hire nice people. We try to make nice games. And I think we have the nicest fans anywhere. So be nice on the forums. Let the DFAF be an oasis of niceness in a mean, mean world. We encourage lively debate, but please don’t be rude, insulting, or make personal attacks. Treat each other with respect. We reserve the right to delete any malicious posts, or to just re-edit them to make the original author look like a moron, or a pedophile.

The words to the Pope song.

About that last post with the most excellent video by Tim Minchin. It may be that the guy speaks too quickly, or the music gets in the way or you are distracted by the graphics and so miss the lyrics. So here they are.

Fuck the motherfucker, fuck the motherfucker
Fuck the motherfucker, he’s a fucking motherfucker

Fuck the motherfucker, fuck the fucking fucker
Fuck the motherfucker, he’s a total fucking fucker

Fuck the motherfucker, fuck the motherfucker
Fuck the motherfucker, fucking fuck the motherfucker

Fuck the motherfucker, fuck the motherfucking pope

Fuck the motherfucker, and fuck you motherfucker
If you think that motherfucker is sacred (fucking motherfucker)
If you cover for another motherfucker who’s a kiddie fucker
Fuck you you’re no better then the mother fucking rapist
And if you don’t like this swearing that this motherfucker forced from me
And reckon it shows moral or intellectual paucity
Then fuck you motherfucker, this is language one employs
When one is fucking cross about fuckers fucking boys

I don’t give a fuck if calling the pope a motherfucker
Means you unthinkingly brand me an unthinking apostate, and
This has naught to do with other fucking godly motherfuckers
I’m not interested right now in fucking scriptural debate
There are other fucking songs and there are other fucking ways
I’ll be a religious apologist on other fucking days
And the fact remains that if you protect a single kiddie fucker
Then pope or prince or plumber you’re a fucking motherfucker

You see I don’t give a fuck what any other motherfucker
Believes about Jesus and his motherfucking mother
I’ve no problem with the spiritual beliefs of all these fuckers
While those beliefs don’t impact on the happiness of others
But if you build your church on claims of fucking moral authority
And with threats of hell impose it on others in society
Then you, you motherfuckers, can expect some fucking wrath
When it turn out you’ve been fucking us in our motherfucking asses

So fuck the motherfucker and fuck you motherfucker
If you’re still a motherfucking papist (fucking motherfucker)
If you covered for a single motherfucker who’s a kiddie fucker,
Fuck the motherfucker he’s as evil as the rapist
And if you look into your motherfucking heart and tell me true
If this motherfucking stupid fucking song offended you
With its filthy fucking language and its fucking disrespect
If it made you feel angry go ahead and write a letter

But if you find me more offensive than the fucking possibility
The pope protected priests when they were getting fucking fiddly
Then listen to me motherfucker, this here is a fact
You are just as morally misguided as that motherfucking
Power-hungry, self-aggrandised bigot in the stupid fucking hat

Fuck the motherfucker, Fuck the motherfucker
Fuck the motherfucker, he’s a fucking motherfucker

Fuck the motherfucker, …
(Fades out)

Sing along – it’s fun!

There is One truth about the Pope.

The Vatican has expressed its “dismay and betrayal” at the “sinful and criminal acts” by Catholic clergy guilty of child abuse across Ireland.

For “Ireland” use the name of any of the numerous countries in which this happened.

The scandals had “opened many wounds”, it said, and lay people had “lost trust in their pastors”.

You think it took this long to lose trust?

It said that “those who should have exercised vigilance often failed to do so effectively”.

That’ll be the Pope-appointed Cardinals.

The report also said that good priests felt “unjustly tainted” and not defended by superiors.

Did not realise there were any.

It recommended continued support for the victims and survivors of Catholic clerical abuse in Ireland.

So the plan was to ignore them and find the next fresh body?

The report also sought to bring the Irish Church back into line with the teachings of Rome.

Who will watch the Cardinals?

“The Visitators also encountered a certain tendency, not dominant but nevertheless fairly widespread among priests, religious and laity, to hold theological opinions at variance with the teachings of the Magisterium, this serious situation requires particular attention,” said the report.

Can’t be having priests thinking for themselves can we?

It said that the community should establish “a proper relationship” with journalists with the aim of “making known the truth of the Gospel and the Church’s life”.

That’s after you’ve whipped them into shape and told them to repeat “The Pope is right” many many times.

“Innocent young people were abused by clerics and religious to whose care they had been entrusted, while those who should have exercised vigilance often failed to do so effectively,” he said.

Why does he say it like this is the first reported case anywhere of this?

“There was a feeling that the spirit of the sixties had infected the seminaries too much,” he said, adding that there was a sense of the current Pope looking forward to a Church where there might be “fewer but truer” Catholics.

Which implies child abuse was A-OK in the 60’s.

There is but one source on the Pope and all he stands for.

Please – if you insist on having religious beliefs don’t worship a child abuser.

Words not sentences

Amit Singhal, the man who re-wrote the famous Google search algorithm, ….”You need to be able to have a conversation with your search engine” Google search overhaul – Telegraph.

Garbage. I don’t want a conversation, I want the result.
Person says to a Man: “Where is the Wheatsheaf pub”
Man replies: “To the end of the road, turn left, it’s about half mile down on the right”

Person says to a Woman: “Where is the Wheatsheaf pub”
Woman replies: “Oh that’s a lovely pub, going there for a meal maybe? Do try the beef there, they cook it perfectly. Had our anniversary there. If you go to the end of the road and turn … left … yes.. it’s on the right”

I want Google and other search engines to give me the Man answer. It takes less time and is more accurate. I just want the result and the longer you make it, the more chatty it is the less likely I will come back. And a conversation generally involves both sides exchanging information. Google – you have enough.

“Why shouldn’t a search engine, which I have built a personalised relationship with, be able to sync up all that information and tell me when I am near a shop which has a gift in it that my dad would like at a time when I am free?”

If you find that appealing you need your head felt.

I live in a house with 3 woman. I know very well what the difference is between Man speak and Woman speak. I am right.
