Dropbox – cannot have 2 accounts on 1 machine.
Mozy – does not sync or if it does I have no idea how.
Sugarsync – nice icon, crap program.
Spideroak – nice icon, stupid program.
What I want is 2 dropboxes but without the hassle of the second on the mac. Didn’t get it to work before and have no intention of trying again yet. I’ll keep looking though at this rate I’ll just email files to the laptop. And seriously the last above? Stay away.
Have you tried jungledisk? I used to use them but stopped because I was backing up too much and it wasn’t cost effective but it does what you’re wanting it to do i think. it’s like a combo of mozy and dropbox.
I did – then I quit.
Earlier this year a credit card was compromised so the bank closed that card. As you do we worked through who used that card and I forgot JD. I get a message saying my service had been stopped. I was locked out. No email saying “Hey, we tried one” or “If you are going here’s a one-time download link for all your data”. They just closed the door. I paid, they opened the door.
I then went to set up a new backup. It wanted by Amazon key but I couldn’t find it. Nowhere was it to be found in any a in any place on Amazon’s site. JD support said to tell Amazon.
So – Amazon cannot help me with JD files when they lock me out. and JD won’t help other than a generic wave in Amazon’s direction. So I am paying 2 parties and I get no real support and one very bad lockout from JD. Both get kicked out for now.
It’s not crucial and it’s for <2gb of files but I’ll have to look further.
http://syncplicity.com/ worked perfectly out of the box. No hassle, nothing confusing and it’s fast.
I use a symlink with Dropbox in order to have two folders sync.
What I’d really love though is software like Dropbox, etc. but that used my own server to store/sync the data. That way I could store a bazillion GB for no monthly fee. :)
