Quiet

I sort my dock. Browsers together, then email programs, then talk stuff – Adium, Skype, twitter – and so on. So Twitter was in my field of view as was Adium. Both noisy, both there all the time. So yesterday I unsubbed from several email lists, moved twitter to the end on the right and shut Adium. It was very nice. Quieter. More civilised even. Today I left Adium shut and after 3 posts to twitter I closed that client. I forgot to start skype. Really nice. No constant checking, no info bombardment. I just (as in now) clicked around the few places I actually want/need to check and it seems my world did not collapse, I missed nothing major and it all looks good.
I go through phases – maybe others do – of being able to absorb lots of info effortlessly and times like now where I can’t and I don’t want to try. Been there, done that, failed. It’s been good to not have that nagging, the digital distraction, the noise. Peace reigns.
