I have a few of those – except 75kg of not entirely coordinated dog that has a face with much excess skin tends to blur terribly :) I usually end up with one part of him in focus and the rest hazy.
If he is some distance away I can get him to run at me simply by crouching down. But he runs directly at you and only in the last metre veers to your side. This is him at full speed. You just have to stand still and trust him – I made the mistake once of stepping to the side which happened to be the side he was also going on. Bowled me right over.
