I’m being forced back to the gym but yesterday something went wrong. I think it was the chest press (sit down, push weights forward, feet needed to ease weights back to the base). I stepped up a weight so I knew I’d feel it a little but as soon as I finished my right arm almost seized up. It felt very numb/odd. Last night I didn’t pay too much attention but this morning it’s giving me no option. I can raise my forearm just above 90° to the upper arm. The tricep doesn’t hurt like a worked muscle but there is an area where the tendon is joining to the elbow which is very painful indeed. Can’t tell if it’s swollen but it is restricting keyboard/mouse which is annoying. I can’t touch my head with that arm without lifting from the shoulder. I can only think I twisted my arm as I pushed out instead of keeping it straight. I otherwise did nothing different.
Looks like I’m stuck on the x-trainer / bike for a while then.

The BBC have an article describing the PS3 launch. They describe how Microsoft tried to upstage Sony. And they have an interview with a ‘gamer’ to promote the Sony PS3.

Nice product placement there by Nintendo.
Rowan cleanses his soul
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are leading a procession through London to mark the 200th anniversary of Britain’s abolition of the slave trade. BBC
Okay, so far no problem I guess.
Dr Williams said it was a way Anglicans could try to heal “historic injustices inflicted in the name of the Church”.
So…. the Church inflicts injustices on many people for many years and for the church to be cleansed of all blame and sin all it takes is a stroll with some mates and much ego-inflation?
Dr Williams writes in the walk’s programme: “This important anniversary, when we recall both the shameful history of the slave trade and its modern legacies, presents us with an opportunity to open up that past to the healing power of Christ.
And that means that by the end of the day absolution will be complete and they can start again?
And why wait for the 200th? Why not have done this last year? or before then?
Inane.
Images again
I’m after advice.
10,000 images.
On Windows they are in the main tagged, are certainly in folders and between the tags and folder names single images are pretty easy to find. What would you do to get them into the Mac?
So far I see:
- an image viewer that does not tag but is a good image viewer.
or
- iPhoto + keyword assistant and start from scratch
or
- spend a lot of money for something like iview which comes with many more features than I’d need.
Ideally I’d have an image viewer for many tasks and something a bit heavier for the organising. I don’t think or expect 1 app to do the whole lot.
Retagging all the images is one task, re-organising them to how they are stored right now is another. I can see that if I worked through every image and both tagged and stored them that I could have a very good system. But I don’t want perfection, just a level of workability that I have on Windows. I’m not even tied to the absolute file system I have on Win but there would need to be an advantage to changing it. Does iPhoto have some hidden setting where it fully respects the current organisation? Is this something a Win > Mac user will find tricky no matter what software?
Back to the problem.
So, what would you do?

People who have normal dogs and who find remote controls crunched and chewed generally only have themselves to blame – after all, they left it where the dog could get it.
People who have Great Danes and who left their remote control in the middle of the dining table before finding it crunched and chewed just sigh….. remotesrus will be getting more business.
A changed pw
I’ve had a test blog in my WP help pages that has been open for probably 18 months or more. I started it because the number of people saying they had pingback / trackback problems was high in the wp.org forums. Being able to say “Try there” meant anyone checking could see the incoming and outgoing action. It also served to show people how to do those things. And it also worked. Useful. It’s done a few thousand tests, being reinstalled because I accidentally deleted the db once (that is SO easy in cpanel) and it’s been through a few themes.
But to publish people need an account – which is obviously openly displayed. I think it’s Author role. In the runup to version 2 I made the role Admin and even posted that so people could poke around and see the upcoming changes. And everything went really well and it lasted much longer than I thought – lasted being until someone changed the password. Which anyone could do any time they wanted. Sometime on the 9th someone did just that – I found out when I asked a wp.com user to go test there. It’s fixed now of course and I expect it to happen again but I’m pleasantly surprised that it did take so long before someone did that. (I’ll be making it so it can’t happen again though now).
It’s running bleeding-edge code updated a couple of times a week and it does work so if you need to test, hit it.
Feel the power…
I’ve found a short video of D with a couple of friends doing a dance routine.
It’s from about 5 years ago.
I could …… put it on Youtube.
D was not pleased when J and myself said that.
I could though..
I know D’s friends read this so ask her – tell her you want it on Youtube :)
Quotes on atheism
I’m an atheist. You are born, you live, you die. That’s the totality of life for me. There are some spiritual leanings but they are slight. The tagline above hints at that. But I absolutely do not believe in a God. Richard Dawkins doesn’t either – and here are some brilliant quotes.
Ever have that feeling ..
.. that something bad is about to happen? When, not if.
