Learning one’s station

It’s Friday, it’s the last weekday before the half-term finishes and the house needed a clean.
“Look girls” said I, “It is at times like these that you need to be taught your place on life. As the female, your duties include tidying, cleaning, putting things away and doing this for other people, not just yourselves.” I then divided up the chores and sent my daughters to complete them. And they did ! Wow ! Might have something to do with the fact J was having the ‘Reveal device’ out today (local anaesthetic, no butterfly needles thankyouverymuch) or it might indeed be those XX genetics coming into play …. is domesticity an inherited characteristic ?
(For those unfamiliar with me and my opinions, I was joking. About the XX bit anyway ;) )
