Not a blogger are you ?
Found on Metafilter is this very very funny piece: If these words were people, I would embrace their genocide.
The welsh blog
If you’ve not got an email from me about it and you know you should, drop me a mail :)
Blame the Germans
Germans are being reassured that they invented the world as part of a new government- and industry-backed campaign intended to restore their self-esteem.
Brazilian hypocrisy
The Brazilian government last night voiced ‘shock and surprise’, saying it had always sought the ‘eradication of the misery’ of terror ‘within international norms and respect for human rights’.
[My emphasis] Link
And in the country of Brazil .. that country which has respect for human rights ?
Police officers are frequently accused of murdering destitute minors Link
Another photograph showed the simple cross outside the church of Our Lady of Cadelaria where 8 street children were brutally mowed down by Brazilian police. Link
police officers are paid to eliminate innocent children without responsible and effective actions by the federal government to prevent these atrocities.Link
So….maybe the Brazilian Govt can go shove it’s concerns eh ?
Mac Owners and a Brick
Which is the most likely to happen:
- A brick sprouting legs and walking ?
- A Mac owner to admit that Apple could be even the slightest tiniest bit wrong in anything they have ever done or ever will do ?
(The answer is the odd number)
It gets a bit bloody tedious when Mac owners try and lord it all over Windows users (at least Linux users are too busy bickering among themselves about which variant is better and how hardcore they are because it took 6 months to compile their custom code). Why is it that some Mac owners just completely fail to see that Apple has it’s failings ? What do you lot do – admit it only to each other and keep the united front to diss all MS products ? Why is it that MS could produce a quality product yet you Mac dweebs would leap all over it ? If MS had created an ‘iTunes’ of their own, you’d all be screaming about how badly it performed, how it was exclusionary, how it didn’t play by so many rules – all of which are completely true for the Mac product yet you lot fall at the feet of Jobs and continue to praise everything he does ? What’s up with you lot ? Did you get shown a photo of Jobs when you were babies ?
Microsoft own smilies. All of them.
From Gamerscircle:
“Methods and devices for creating and transferring custom emoticons allow a user to adopt an arbitrary image as an emoticon, which can then be represented by a character sequence in real-time communication”
And at the end of a very detailed US patent Office document is this:
“[0075] The foregoing discussion describes exemplary custom emoticons, methods of creating and transferring emoticons, and an exemplary emoticon engine. Although the subject matter has been described in language specific to structural features and/or methodological acts, it is to be understood that the subject matter defined in the appended claims is not necessarily limited to the specific features or acts described above. Rather, the specific features and acts described above are disclosed as example forms of implementing the claims. “
In other words, ‘everything else just in case we missed a bit out’.
This cannot be possible.
Unloading on the Underground
So …. a guy got shot on the tube this morning. I’ve not seen any TV news today but I’ve followed it on various news sites. What struck me the most was the apparent eyewitness account:
“… and unloaded five shots into him”
Not “they shot him 5 times”, or “he was shot 5 times” but unloaded five shots into him. What does this guy watch ? Or did he have the presence of mind to “think hip” while in what he described as a scary situation – man, is he cool or what ? Unloaded. Well, yeah.. they did take the bullets out of the gun but not in the way that word suggests. I wonder what TV program that comes from ? If he was my neighbour I’d keep an eye on him… Wierd.
And anyone else noticed all the righteous ones blogging today about how absolutely shocking it was that a man – an unarmed man – was shot (sorry … unloaded into) on the Tube ? Yep …. well maybe the police there – who must have been scared too – did what they thought was best. “Kill 1 man, or let him kill many”. It’s not a tricky sum is it ?
Small and … well … ugly !
I lost. I pointed out all the hassles. I pointed out the expense. I pointed out possible future complications. I made my point very clear. I established my position on the matter very firmly – nicely but firmly. And then I lost. Did I expect to win ? Hmmm…….why have I not learnt by now ?
The current name (as chosen by the girls) for the hound is Winston – I have chosen and will stick to “Beast”.
It has waaaaay more skin than body and is uglier than it looks there. A lot uglier – but then I love cats, not dogs. Cats rule – and both cats have already begun to teach Beast that in the food chain, he is at the bottom. But J loves dogs and if she is happy, that’s what matters. He’s a Great Dane (not yet he isn’t !)
BBC overloaded ?
Every image link is broken on http://news.bbc.co.uk. Wierd.
