Cancer

So one of the ‘beautiful people’ gets cancer ? So frigging what ?

Today a kid somewhere will be physically and sexually abused. No-one will help them.
Today someone somewhere will starve. No-one will help them.
Someone will be injured in a war, injured by a weapon of war, mentally scarred, disfigured, killed – no-one will do anything for them.
The suffering inflicted on people by the govts of the western worlds will continue – no-one will care.

Some daft bint on the TV just said she hopes that this will “raise the profile of breast cancer” – WTF ??? That profile doesn’t NEED raising – where is the fuss about testicular cancer ? prostate cancer ? THEY need yelling about.

Kylie is worth millions, she will be getting better care than most of us can ever dream of and in the end it’s ONE person with a problem. Doesn’t figure on the global scale of pain does it ? Get a frigging grip.

  1. There’s not a single US media entity that has the balls to make it an issue. It’s sexual, ergo the American public can’t talk about it. Anything to do with [whisper]genitals[/whisper] is taboo.

You can show a thousand acts of violence on one night of TV, but if you see part of a breast then it’s a national disgrace. Puritanical bullshit, isn’t it? How many years did it take to make the topic of breast cancer “acceptable” for public discussion? It will take even longer before men’s health issues are commonly and openly acknowledged and discussed. Genitals == Sex == Evil.

  2. “So one of the ‘beautiful people’ gets cancer ? So frigging what ?”

wow, that’s a pretty nice thing to say…

My best friend died of Cancer 3 years ago, when you’re told you have cancer money and other things do not matter any longer. Cancer is fucking cancer. Doesn’t matter if it’s your tits, balls, nose or your little finger, chances are…you’re going to die, money just means you get 2 more years added on to your life instead of just 1. My friend had the best insurance money could buy and guess what….she’s dead. That great insurance bought her another year of suffering…chemo, bone marrow transplant, puking everyday, etc.

Maybe you should take you own advice…

“Karma man, just remember Karma. Treat things nice and nice things happen to you.”

Who knows, maybe you’ll get Cancer now and I can come back to your site and say…

    So fucking what…

  3. @jeff …. like you have a clue about my life and the crap that I have to live with on a daily basis.

If you cannot see past that first line of the post then you really are intellectually myopic.

Go take your attitude and shove it, okay ?

  4. My attitude…?

You are a little confused I think. After the first line you begin preaching about other matters of the world, while at the same time lowering the value of a human being that is going to go thru something that you have no glue about.

Today a kid somewhere will be physically and sexually abused. No-one will help them.

And someone in Darfur will die (be slaughtered) because western governments and the world aren’t doing anything about it because of the backlash from people like you.

Someone will be injured in a war, injured by a weapon of war, mentally scarred, disfigured, killed – no-one will do anything for them.

Yep, your right…We need to get out of Iraq and put Saddam Hussein back in power, He was doing the world a favor…He was putting Muslims in mass graves for us. To the tune of 300,000 found so far.

That’s what I don’t understand about people like you, You bitch when the world does nothing, then you bitch when someone does…This is the way the world works, you can’t deal with brutal dictators by sitting down and having a cup of coffee with them and talk about love and peace. We tried that with North Korea, and now they have nukes to sell to the world. I suggest you go back to school and study history a little more.

The suffering inflicted on people by the govts of the western worlds will continue – no-one will care.

If you hate the west that much, maybe you should really consider going to Iraq and joining Michael Moore’s freedom fighters. You know , the ones who are killing innocent civilians and beheading innocents. You know, the ones who targeting civilians. Where is your outrage over that…? I have friends who are serving in Iraq, they are good people who are actually trying to make a difference in the world. Not by killing, but by building schools and helping the Iraqi people.

It’s sad really, you have alot of growing up to do.

like you have a clue about my life and the crap that I have to live with on a daily basis.

Your right, I have no glue about your life, but we all have to deal with a shitload of crap everyday. It’s called life.

Go take your attitude and shove it, okay ?

That statement validates my whole point. Such a peace loving and understanding comment.

Some daft bint on the TV just said she hopes that this will “raise the profile of breast cancerâ€? – WTF ??? That profile doesn’t NEED raising – where is the fuss about testicular cancer ? prostate cancer ? THEY need yelling about.

Again, cancer is cancer…doesn’t matter where they find it, it still has the same result. Did you ever think for a moment that just maybe since the “beautiful one” has got this disease, that it will make someone aware and go get a check up…?

Kylie is worth millions, she will be getting better care than most of us can ever dream of and in the end it’s ONE person with a problem. Doesn’t figure on the global scale of pain does it ? Get a frigging grip.

Yep, she has millions and will probably end up losing her breast and possiblly end up dying. Would that make you feel better.

How do bitch about the world’s problems one minute and then turn around de-value a human life at the same time?

Well at least you’ll be able to sleep better knowing that her career and life as she knows it will be over.

  5. You know, After taking a shower and thinking about what you wrote, I have to ask you these 3 simple questions…

#1 Are you helping kids who have been physically and sexually abused?

#2 Are you helping clear land mines that were planted by the Soviets in Afghanistan?

#3 Did you buy dinner for a homeless person or give to charity to help feed someone?

If answered no to 2 of these questions, then you are the one who doesn’t care.

Actions change the world, not words.

And before you ask, yes I do 2 out of the 3.

  6. Jeff,
Do the newspapers run 5 pages of content when your friend was diagnosed?
Was it the number one news story on most of the networks?
Is it more important than little girls being tortured and killed (a story moved to back pages)
Why should we spend so much time reading “Kylie has a lump and is getting it treated”
Didn’t take 5 pages did it?

  7. AJ, No they did not run a 5 page story on Wendy…at the time Pres. Bill Clinton was bombing Serbia and removing a Dictator who was committing Genocide. Shame on us evil Americans for stopping that, think god we aren’t doing anything about Darfur…(jab meant for Mark) :yummy:

I personally only heard a small bleep on the news about this model who has cancer.

and by the way Mark, why are you cutting me down for trying to make a difference…? I do everything I can to help others, I can’t do it all the time. But I make it a point to try. You say no one cares, but when someone stumbles on to your site that actually does something about it, you cut them down?

  8. Jeff – here in the UK, the new of said lump was plastered all over the place. Imagine the headlines in the US if GW Bush gave Bill Clinton a blowjob … but worse :)

    I’m not cutting you down.
You assumed I meant the Iraq war when I was including others.
You assumed I was being callous to Kylie, I was not.
You did not ‘get’ what the post was about – and friends who have otherwise commented did so.
You assumed that I know nothing about ill-health. Wrong.
You assumed I do nothing to help others. Wrong.
You assumed that the tagline is a frivolity. Wrong.
There is a whole lot about me which you do not know, yet you came in attacking me and mine – is it any wonder that I shoot from the hip in such circumstances ?

I do not and will not explain why I think the way I do and why I write the way I do – it’s my blog and I’ll do as I please. Do I expect to be agreed with ? Good grief no ! But attack my WORDS, not ME please.

    :)

  9. When a person expresses his/her feelings on his/her personal blog they are their feelings to contend with, you should attack the words or the statement, never the person.

The points are being made across that people and charities make “big deals” about things when its rich and famous people and they don’t seem to care about the people that REALLY count like the road sweepers or the telephone maintenance guys or the people that provide televisions for everyones lounge or firefighters, what if a firefighter had breast cancer? they wouldn’t get a 5 page spread and a page 1 in the newspaper, no matter what good they did or how hard they work.

I’m not going to stipulate or throw lighter fluid into the supposid fire we have brewing but really, this is a weblog, you read, you go away and think and then you take a deep breath – feel better huh?

  10. When a person expresses his/her feelings on his/her personal blog they are their feelings to contend with, you should attack the words or the statement, never the person.

If you’re going to create a blog and express your views, and leave it as an open forum, then you had better be prepared to take criticism for “your words”. If you can’t handle the criticism, then don’t leave the option for someone to leave a comment.

So one of the ‘beautiful people’ gets cancer ? So frigging what ?

That was the point. These are not just words that just appeared, they came from a human being. I as a human being see past the fame and money and see the human being that is getting ready to suffer from a terrible disease, Unfortunately we live in a world where the rich and famous make headlines when they get that terrible disease, but on the good side of that, it brings awareness to others. And if it took 5 pages to bring awareness to a young woman to go and checked and possibly save her life, then those 5 pieces of paper was worth it. That was my point.
